YWAM Cusco Staff Training

(Jen, David, Joy, Jordan, Saulo and Edgar)

David had a dream this week that “[he] was looking down on a chessboard. Rocks started to fall on all of the squares, except on the squares where we were standing.” When he asked God for the interpretation of the dream later, he said that our staff team was “unified and complete”.

Saulo is a friend from Tuesday Night Prayer For the City. He did his DTS in Brisbane and is also a dentist. He was working at a non-profit clinic in Cusco, but then felt like God was telling him to do something else. We told him to pray about joining our staff and he did. He is also a downhill mountain bike enthusiast, who has his national downhill race next weekend on the mountain behind our neighborhood.

Edgar is from a few hours away in Juliaca, Peru (close to Puno and Lake Titicaca). He is a Pastor of a church and did his DTS in Iquitos, Peru. He has also worked with the YWAM base in Pichilemu, Chile. A few months ago we were praying for more staff (the Allens and us) and we asked God to give us the names of people who were to join us. The name that I felt like God was giving me was “Edgar”.  I asked if anyone knew an Edgar in Peru. Jordan immediately thought of this guy and called him. We actually forgot about him in the next few months that followed because we knew he was pastoring a church and thought his delay in responding was a “no”. Yet, he called Jordan 2 days before staff training and said he was moving to Cusco to join us on staff!

It’s been 7 years and YWAM Cusco has closed again. We in Peru would love to get it started again, and not let it go 20 more years before doing so. We have created a Facebook page to that end and would love to pass on whatever contacts in Cusco, YWAM assistance from surrounding bases, and whatever we can, to help do so. Thank you for this 2013 report that is on the web. I made a PDF out of it, just to document that year and hopefully you don’t mine our putting some of the photos from it on the facebook page. Please direct whoever you might know that might add to information we can add in this effort. I am in touch with Roque, and a few more people from the 1990 DTS, as well as Joy and Jordon Allen. Thanks again!!

    1. Thanks William for reaching out. I would reach out to Clark Barnard or the base in Lima as we have no new information on our end. We have been Stateside since 2014.
      All the best,
      Team Carter

Hey David, yes, Clark and I are chasing the same thing .. .Since my wife and I opened a new base in Ica (we are both retired) and I did my DTS as one of the last ones in Cusco in 2018, I am just taking some personal interest in reaching out to see if we can get it re-established. Anyway, do visit the facebook page, encourage any others that might be interested. Just fighting to get it reopened. We also have a new YWAM base I mentioned here in Ica

        Thanks for the quick response!
